THE SON OF SAM TAPES 

Three months before my 18th birthday in 1977, the NYPD and Mayor Abe Beame announced the same, .44-caliber gun was used in five, New York City shootings that targeted young people in cars or on sidewalks, often two at a time. 

Three women were dead and a teenager was paralyzed. The killer started taunting police and the media with letters, calling himself SON OF SAM. He carried out three more shootings, and you may not believe how he was finally caught. 

In July 2025, Netflix released a docu-series about the case and interviewed me about 'coming of age' during this scary time.
